How cropping a PDF works (and why nothing is lost)
Cropping a PDF changes the page’s visible box, not its content. You drag a crop rectangle over a live preview; the same area is applied proportionally to every page; the file is rewritten with the new page bounds. Text and images are untouched — nothing is re-rendered, so nothing softens. That also means the cropped-away area is hidden, not deleted: a reader that resets the crop box can show it again. If you need the margin content gone — a header with a name, a footer with an account number — use Redact PDF, which removes it.
Trimming scan margins and header/footer bands
Scans usually carry a wide dark or grey border and an uneven margin. Draw the box just inside the printed area on the first page and check two or three others in the preview; because the crop is proportional, a box that clears the margin on page 1 clears it on the rest of a consistent scan. For removing a running header or footer band, set the top or bottom edge of the box below or above the band. For printing, a tighter crop means larger text on the sheet.
Crop on a phone, large files, and mixed page sizes
The tool runs in your browser on phones too — drag the corners with a finger. Large documents are processed page by page on your device; there is no upload size tier. If a document mixes portrait and landscape pages, crop the two groups separately: split them first, crop each, then merge.
