Stamp exhibits for a filing — labels, cover sheets and an index, in batches

Updated 22 August 2026

Exhibit Stamper labels each PDF as an exhibit — "Exhibit A", "Plaintiff's Exhibit 12", or your own wording — at the position, size and rotation you choose, adds an optional cover sheet, and auto-increments across a batch (letters continue past Z to AA). It downloads the stamped files with an exhibit index as CSV, processed on your device.

How to label exhibits consistently for court filings and depositions — lettered or numbered, with cover sheets and a CSV index — in your browser.

UnboundPDF is a free suite of 54 PDF and image tools that run entirely in your browser — merge, split, compress, edit text, OCR in 126 languages, redact, sign, convert and archive to PDF/A. Your document is read and written by the page on your own device; there is no document-upload endpoint in the core tools, no account, no watermark and no daily cap. Every result can be checked — with the Network tab, or with the Document Passport the Workspace writes for a chain of steps.

  1. Open Exhibit Stamper and add the exhibits in order.
  2. Choose the label pattern (letters, numbers, or custom wording), the starting value, position, size and rotation; turn on cover sheets if your court wants them.
  3. Run, check the first stamp, and download the files with the index.

Open Exhibit Stamper to do this in your browser — the steps above are the whole procedure; the rest of this page is what to expect at each one.

Lettered or numbered

Courts and arbitral bodies differ: some want letters for one party and numbers for the other, some want numbers for everyone. Set the pattern once; the tool increments across the batch and records it in the index, so the numbering in your brief matches the files.

Cover sheets

A cover sheet is a single page reading "Exhibit 12" placed before the document — useful when exhibits are bound or when the first page has no room for a stamp. It is generated as real text on a clean page.

Position and rotation on real pages

Landscape pages and scanned pages with rotation flags get the label in the reader's visible corner; the preview shows the first page so you can check before stamping the set.

Troubleshooting

The label covers text. Move it to another corner or reduce its size. I need exhibits renumbered. Re-run from the original files with the new start value — stamps are added to copies, never to your originals. Encrypted exhibit. Unlock PDF first.

Frequently asked questions

What happens after Exhibit Z?

The sequence continues AA, AB, AC … exactly as paralegals expect; numbers simply continue.

Can I use my own label text?

Yes — any wording with the counter where you place it, for example "Defendant's Exhibit 3" or "Exhibit A-1".

Are stamps searchable?

Yes. Labels are written as text, so a reviewer's search finds "Exhibit 12" on the page itself.
