PDF Editor

Click a line of text to edit it in place — it's re-typed in a matching font, size, and colour. Or click empty space to add text. Drag, resize, restyle, plus shapes, highlights, freehand drawing, signatures, and whiteout — with undo/redo. (Replaced text is covered and re-typed — a PDF's original embedded font can't be rewritten in the browser.)

How your files are handled

We built these tools so you never have to wonder where your documents go. Here is exactly what happens when you use them.

  • Your files are processed entirely in your browser using open-source libraries (pdf-lib, PDF.js, and others).
  • Nothing is uploaded to our servers. We have no backend that receives, stores, or scans your documents.
  • We cannot see, store, or access your files — not during processing, not after, not ever.
  • Processing uses your device's memory and CPU. Large files may take longer, especially on phones and tablets.
  • All tools are free with no paywall tricks, no hourly task limits, and no watermarks on your output files.

How it works

Three simple steps. Your files never leave your device, and the result downloads straight to your computer or phone.

How to use PDF Editor

PDF Editor is the all-in-one workspace: click existing text to edit it in place, or add new text, images, shapes, highlights, freehand drawings, and signatures anywhere on the page. Reach for it when you need to change or annotate a PDF.

  1. Add your PDF; it opens in the editor on your device and is never uploaded.
  2. Click a line of existing text to retype it in a matching font, or pick a tool to add text, an image, a shape, a highlight, a drawing, or a signature.
  3. Drag, resize, and restyle any element until the page looks right.
  4. Click Save PDF, then preview and download the edited document.

Everything happens in your browser — your file is never uploaded, and there is no sign-up, watermark, or limit.

Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Every tool runs entirely in your browser using open-source libraries, so your file is processed on your own device and is never uploaded. We have no backend that receives, stores, or scans your documents.

Is it really free, and will there be a watermark?

Yes. There is no account, no sign-up, and no hourly limit, and the tools never add a watermark to your output. UnboundPDF is free and is not affiliated with Adobe.

Does it work on a phone or tablet?

Yes. The tools run in any modern mobile browser as well as on desktop. Because the work uses your device's own memory and processor, very large files simply take longer on phones.

How does editing existing text work?

Clicking a line covers the original text in its background color and drops an editable box on top, pre-filled and matched to a close standard font. The underlying glyphs are covered rather than rewritten, and matching uses base fonts.

Can I add my signature or an image?

Yes. You can draw, type, or upload a signature, and place images, shapes, highlights, and freehand drawings anywhere on the page.

Are my edits saved into the file?

Yes. When you save, everything you added is drawn into the page content of a new PDF that downloads to your device.
