Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. UnboundPDF processes PDFs locally in the browser — documents are not uploaded to a server. We have no backend that receives, stores, or scans your files.
Will it keep my images and headings?
Yes. Embedded images are included — JPEGs at their original bytes, PNG and other encodings decoded and re-embedded — and headings are exported bold and larger. Detected tables become real Word tables. Exact positioning and vector graphics are not reproduced; the text re-flows as Word paragraphs.
Why does my scanned PDF come out empty?
A scanned page is an image with no selectable text, so there is nothing to extract. Run OCR PDF first, then convert the searchable result.
Will the Word file match the PDF layout exactly?
