Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. UnboundPDF processes PDFs locally in the browser — documents are not uploaded to a server. We have no backend that receives, stores, or scans your files.
What kinds of watermark can this remove?
Watermarks that exist in the file as their own objects: /Watermark and /Stamp annotations, form XObjects drawn on every page, and repeated blocks of text or graphics in the page content stream that are partly transparent, rotated, or set much larger than the body text.
What happens with a scanned document?
It is refused by name. When a page is a single scanned or rasterised image, any mark on it is part of the picture's own pixels and there is no object to remove; the tool says which pages those are instead of handing back a re-saved copy of the same file.
How do I know the watermark is really gone?
The saved output is re-loaded and scanned independently of the code that made the edit: annotation objects, XObject invocations, and every decoded content stream searched for the mark's own text. The result reports each item as removed or still present, and says so plainly when the check does not pass.
Is the rest of the document changed?
Only the objects you ticked are removed, along with anything left orphaned by their removal — an annotation's appearance stream, for instance. Page text, images and layout are untouched, and objects shared with something else in the file are never deleted.
Should I remove a watermark from someone else's document?
That is your decision and your responsibility. This tool edits a file you already hold on your own device; it does not break encryption or any access control, and it is not a way around a licence or a copyright.
