The arithmetic you no longer do by hand
Page 1 shares a physical sheet with the last page; page 2 with the second-to-last. Getting that pairing right — for any page count, padded to a multiple of four — used to be the print shop's craft or an evening with sticky notes. The tool shows its plan before the run: how many sheets, how many blanks (at the end, stated), and the signature size if you saddle-stitch a thicker book.
Everything stays sharp
Your pages are embedded as vector content onto the landscape sheets — nothing is rasterised, text prints as crisply as the original. Mixed page sizes normalise to the sheet's half and the page says so.
The one honest loss
Links and form fields do not carry onto imposed sheets — each sheet is a new page, and the tool states it. The booklet is for paper; keep the interactive original for screens. If your source needs a size cleanup first, normalise the pages before imposing.
Troubleshooting
The backs print upside down. The printer flipped on the long edge — reprint with short-edge flip. The middle pages are in the wrong order. The stack was collated oddly; print one test sheet first. My booklet is thick and won't fold flat. Use signatures (the saddle-stitch option) and staple each; that is what they are for.

Why is the page order scrambled in the output?
That is imposition working — pages are placed in the order the FOLD needs. Print it and fold it; reading order returns.
Which duplex setting?
Flip on the short edge. Long-edge duplex prints the backs upside down — the tool states this before and after the run.
Where did the blank pages come from?
A folded sheet carries four pages, so the count pads to a multiple of four; the blanks go at the end and the tool says how many.
